Recipe #1 Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp

Cooking Times

  • Prep Time: 15 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 45 Minutes
  • Total Time: 1 Hour

Ingredients

  • 6 golden delicious apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon, – divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.  Butter an 8×8 baking dish. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, add sliced apples, granulated sugar, 3/4 tsp of the cinnamon and lemon juice.  Stir to combine and pour into prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, add topping ingredients (brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and butter).  Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut the butter into the oat mixture until mixture resembles crumbs.  
  • Spread topping over apples in baking dish.
  • Bake 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Best served warm.

Recipe #2: Easy Cinnamon Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 6 medium sized apples (I used Gala)
  • 1/4 cup sugar, granulated
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • juice of one lemon

Directions

  • Step 1: Peel and dice apples
  • Step 2: Place apples, sugar, water, cinnamon and lemon juice in a saucepan and cook on medium heat. Stir occasionally until apples are soft.
  • Step 3: Using a potato masher, mash apples. Cool and store in airtight container in fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, granulated
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 finely diced apples

Directions

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Step 2: Stir in milk, vegetable oil and eggs. Fold in vanilla yogurt and diced apples.
  • Step 3: Heat griddle or cast iron skillet.
  • Step 4: Pour batter onto griddle/skillet. Wait for bubbles to appear, then flip. Cook each side until brown.
  • Step 5: Serve with maple syrup or whipped cream with cinnamon sprinkle.
